One Day 4-H & Keep Lockhart Beautiful Service Hours Sign-up Info

Greetings 4-H Families,

Each year Texas 4-H comes together during 4-H week to have a day of service (October 8th).  In Caldwell County we have decided to work that day to support the local animal shelters.  We have set-up a “Sign up genius” to simplify this process.  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f4ea9ae28a20-oneday

The flyer for the event is attached.  Keep in mind, you may sign up for multiple slots!

Important details to note for that day:

8:30AM-10:30 AM shift includes: making arrangements to obtain a 6” table from the extension office (or another place if you have a source), getting a plastic table cloth and picking up flyers from the extension office.  Setting up your booth and keeping record of incoming items and the food weights (we will provide the sheets).  Waiting until the next shift arrives.

10:30AM-12:30 PM shift includes: maintaining records of donations during your shift and waiting until the 3rd shift arrives.  Please do not bring your lunch to the booth.

12:30 PM - 2:30 PM shift includes: Please do not bring your lunch to the booth.  Maintain records of donations during your shift and close the booth at 2 PM.  Clean-up any trash that may have accumulated during the time 4-H was in front of the store.  Must have the capability to haul items collected to either Luling or Lockhart animal shelter immediately after closing the booth. Make arrangements to return the table to location from where it came, immediately following delivery of items to shelters. This shift adult needs to have a cell phone capable of texting to be in group messaging with agents about specifics.  Agents will be floating all sites that day.

Another opportunity on Oct. 8 - Keep Lockhart Beautiful

We need individuals to be representatives for 4-H at the Environmental Fair associated with the “Keep Lockhart Beautiful” clean-up.  We haven’t finished the details on what that booth will look like, but it will need to incorporate an environmental stewardship quick activity for youth and a 4-H recruitment component.  If this is something your family is interested in doing, please contact Ronda at the office.  We will need to have people working an 8:30-10:30 shift and a 10:30 to 12:30 shift.  The first shift will be in charge of set-up and the second in charge of tear down.  We will need two adults and two youth minimum for each shift.

Extension Agents will be floating to all the sites throughout the duration of the day and will meet individuals at the extension office after to open it and collect tables and any other items borrowed from the office.

We look forward to this massive day of service!!

Thanks,

Julie & Elsie
