Upcoming 4-H Events


May 16 – Club Managers Appreciation and Training Event, 6:30-8:30 PM
For managers, assistant club managers and one guest for the 2017-2018 school year.  We will provide chartering information and best practices for your club. Bella Sera Italian Restaurant, Lockhart.  PLEASE RSVP TO RONDA ASAP.

May 14 – Registration Deadline for 4-H Roundup
If you wish to compete in an invitational contest, listed on page 5 here: http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2017-Texas-4-H-Roundup-Guide.pdf  Invitational Contests are a great way to try something new and have a great experience at 4-H Roundup!  You may do single day registration to save on cost.  You will also need to register for roundup if you are to receive a scholarship OR compete in a qualifying event.  If you have questions on how to register, please contact our office!!
May 14  deadline for county approval...to make sure we can take care of any problems that may arise. There is no late registration. 
               
May 25 – Recordbook Training, 6:30-8 PM
Very important for both youth and a parent to attend.  Recordbooks are the only way to get local scholarships and awards!!  The earlier you start, the easier it will be.  Don’t be scared by the sound of them, just come and learn.

May 31 – Registration Deadline for Leadership Lab, 5 PM
You have until midnight on 4-H Connect, but no one from offices can assist you at that point, please get signed up before the office closes.
Leadership Lab is a great opportunity to learn leadership games, become better officers and leaders in your community.  Every participant, youth, agents and adults, will need to complete a Health and Release form packet. Forms are available to download from 4-H Connect. Bring TWO (2) copies of the original Health and Release forms to the Caldwell County Extension Office by June 2, 2017. June 6-9 – Texas 4-H State Roundup

Location: College Station.  Scholarships will be announced and Seniors that placed at District will be competing. Even if you did not compete at District,  Intermediates and Seniors can participate in workshops and invitational events plus attend the assembly and vote for our own Michael Norris performing his original composition at  "4-H Has Talent". June 19-21 – District 10 Leadership Lab
Location: Texas 4-H Center, Brownwood.  Important for county council officers to attend.  Transportation will be provided, may need additional parents to assist with transporting bags.

June 22 – Recordbooks due, Awards Confirmation 
Recordbooks due and Awards Confirmation – You may turn in recordbooks or confirm you’re interested in county awards either at major steer validation or at the county office.  When you turn in your recordbook you will need to let us know if you wish for it to be considered for awards such as Gold Star, Danforth “I Dare You”, Silver Star, etc.  If you choose to be considered for an award, the office will contact you to set up an interview on July 6th or 7th.  If you have a conflict for the 6th or 7th, let us know when you sign up.

June 22 - Major Show Steer and Major Show Heifer Validation 
Will be held at the Luling Foundation Farm 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.  

June 23 – County Recordbook Judging
Location: New Braunfels.  Our county gathers with several other counties and trades books to judge for the “county level”.  At this recordbook  judging, you will be fed lunch.  We will leave the office at 7:30 (time subject to change slightly) and should return around 3 or 4, pending length to judge.  This opportunity is open to senior level youth and adults.  It is a great chance to see what other recordbooks look like and look at “a good recordbook”.  Senior youth will need to be accompanied by a parent.  Please let us know ASAP if you plan to assist judge, we need at Minimum 2 to 3 people to assist from the county. 

June 27, 29 and 30 – Summer Series
Location for 27th and 29th will be the Caldwell County Extension Office, Lockhart.  The 30th will be a field trip, probably to Austin.  We will get marketing info out soon about this program which will include registration deadlines.  Remember that 2 of those 3 days can be used as “make-up meetings”.

July 6 and 7 – County Award Interviews
Location: County Extension Office. Remember to sign up to be considered at the time you turn in your recordbook.

July 13 – District 10 Recordbook Judging
Location: TBD, This is the same exact opportunity, but at the next level…district.  Books will be even better!  Great chance to learn.  We will need 3 volunteers for this event.  You will be fed lunch as well.  Please let Ronda know if you’re interested.

August 3 – 4-H Banquet
Location: Connections Center, more details will follow

Date TBD: Club officer training
For all the newly elected club officers!!  Help you get to know other club officers, share ideas and plan for your upcoming year.
