2018 Summer Camps

Greetings 4-H Families,

Due to some incredibly generous donors, our 4-H program has received funds to assist youth to attend a summer event at a reduced rate (offering scholarships).  Listed on the attached PDF are all the camps offered by the Texas 4-H Center in Brownwood, TX.  There will also be leadership lab June 26-29 in Brownwood for senior high youth (mandatory attendance for voting county council delegates and officers).  All efforts will be made to provide transportation for leadership lab.  These camps, and various camps: livestock judging camp, wildlife brigades, and youth range camp all qualify for funds from our donors.  Each 4-H member will be entitled to one scholarship, no matter the number of camps they attend.  Scholarships may range from $20-$100, we have NO IDEA how many youth will take advantage of this opportunity.  By the time payments are due, we will have a better idea of how much your child will receive.  Thus, if it’s not doable for your budget, you will not be sitting in the red and can cancel your registration.  Payments to the families will not be issued (in refund form) until AFTER camping season is over.

We are recommending Caldwell County youth attend County Camp I, so that attendees will be able to carpool.  We will need a few volunteer chaperones, pending the number of youth attendees.  Elsie will send this note to club leaders to encourage discussion about large groups attending.  These are great opportunities for our kids to connect to the state 4-H movement and make lifelong friends.

If you attend a summer camp, that will count as one 4-H meeting for those that must meet an attendance requirement for various 4-H activities.
